Welcome to my home page. I drag race a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo with a 460 ci engine ( 454 bored .030 ), a 400 turbo transmission and a 390 gear ratio. My best 1/4 mile time is 11.784 sec. at 112.75 MPH. I first started drag racing in 1995 with 402 big block with 10.25 compression. The Monte was still street driven then and the first time down the track with street tires was 14.81 seconds. Then I rebuilt the 402, installed roller rockers, new cam, new double pumper holley 830 CFM, better flowing oval port heads slightly polished and gasket matched. The times dropped to 14.1 seconds with the help of some slicks. Then i installed a 10" torque convertor and dropped the times to 13.7 seconds. After changing to the Weiand Team G intake and adding 50cc pumps to the carb and some more tweaking got the times down to 13.12 seconds. Next came the 454 big block Chevy. This motor has better ported oval port heads, 2.25" intake valves and 1.88" exhaust valves, 13.5 compression, a Lunati cam with .558 lift on the intake, .566 lift on the exhaust and 320 degrees of duration. Finished off with a set of 2" tuned Hooker headers.
